exotic car

Exotic cars are probably the most fascinating thing about the car world. These cars definitely do not go for cheap; in fact, they are very expensive. So expensive most people don't even think about saving up for such a dream. Perhaps it's the price that makes it so attractive? Or maybe the scarcity? The looks? One thing that comes to mind when we think exotic cars or supercars is the performance! So let's take a look at some of the fastest exotic cars on the market today.

1. Bugatti Veyron

Boasting 1000 horsepower, the Bugatti Veyron is the most powerful car on the market today - and the most expensive. It can hit 0-60 in only 2.5 seconds! The top speed goes over 250 mph. In fact, it's so fast, you have to use a key to "unlock" the top speed. This is to prepare the car for the top speed; otherwise, it will fly off the ground! It's literally that fast! This is definitely no cheap exotic car. It's a limited production vehicle, and it's not surprising to find one of these listed at $1 million USD.

2. Ferrari Enzo

What can I say? It's a Ferrari! It's probably the most beautiful Ferrari to date. Like most exotic cars, this car comes with scissor doors. This is the first Ferrari to come with scissor doors. It was styled by Pininfarina. The Enzo can accelerate 0-60 in just 3.1 seconds! In fact, Ferrari was so impressed with the Enzo's performance, they named it after the company founder. This also is no cheap exotic car. The MSRP was a very expensive $600,000 during its release in 2003. It's not surprising to see this exotic car go for the $1-2 million USD price range these days.

3. Porsche Carrera GT

The competitor to the Ferrari Enzo. This is by the far the best looking Porsche. This exotic car can do 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds! The handling just goes to show you the wonderful engineering put into this car. With an MSRP of $450,000, this car isn't cheap either! But it's probably the best exotic car (and most expensive) coming out of Germany.

Honorable Mention

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

The Corvette Z06 is probably the best domestic car. It always ranks up or even outperforms the European exotic cars.

An exotic sports car can be defined as a vehicle with limited production, exclusive, made by foreign car companies and a borderline race car. They tend to have sleek attractive looks and yield high performance from their exquisitely designed engines. The prestige they carry alone makes them exclusive and a looker for everyone.

Exotic cars are legendary an they include the McLaren F1, Lamborghini and Ferraris. These cars are highly followed and establish your status as a person with more than adequate funds. However, even if you can afford to purchase one, is it the right car for you?

The temptation, the stories and status are enough to make you want to own an exotic sports car. It is extremely hard to resist if you have the chance and the means to own such a car with a timeless design. But your status is not defined solely by a beautiful car. Your status is made by being objective and making wise investment decisions.

There are a couple of aspects one needs to think over.

Exotic Cars Are Expensive

The high sticker price does not stop once you make the payment. The recurring cost for repair and to maintain the fine tuning of an exotic sports car should logically be considerably more costly than a standard automobile. It is recommended that you know what type of costs you’ll encounter to keep the car in running at its peak.

Since the car is in limited production, the parts are probably going to have a limited stock. Do not be surprised if some parts have to be custom made. It is even more prevalent in older exotic cars where the original manufacturer has ceased production

Obviously, you’ll need to have a mechanic who specializes in exotic car repair and is certified accordingly. More than likely they will be based in major cities or luxury suburbs where these exotic cars are driven. Otherwise, you will have to ship your car or travel to find the proper mechanic. Although an exotic sports car may symbolize the high performance, you cannot predict that it will also be reliable, especially with older “classic exotic cars”.

Driving an Exotic Car

It is not uncommon when driving high performance cars that it will take some time to get comfortable and familiar with such a vehicle. Driving a high performance vehicle like a professional comes in time, and will depend a lot on the motorist’s skill. Inexperienced drivers may become overly frustrated with the learning curve. A person needs to be patient and consider the risks involved.

Therefore, if you are seriously in the market to buy an exotic sports car, you will need to overlook the love affair and excitement of actually being an owner of a prestigious high performance car. Be prepared to deal with obstacles so you can enjoy the most highly sought after designed vehicles in the world.

Searching for a quality luxury car will inevitably bring anyone to the rather apt adjective, 'exotic'. Exotic food or exotic beauty may be more clearly defined, but what really makes for an exotic sports car?

Sleek and Elegant Design

Part of what makes an exotic sports car is the vehicles streamlined, sleek, and smooth designs, all of which serve functional purposes to the overall performance of the car albeit being so highly aesthetically pleasing.

Indeed, even exotic sports car makers know emphasis that car enthusiasts and racers put on design per se. After all, owning an exotic sports car in contrast to owning a car is, in itself, a status symbol. This status is endowed not only by the make of the car but also the style and visual appeal.

In fact, companies like Ferrari even employ design houses to come up with their car designs. Design powerhouse Pininfarina, for example, designed the 2002 Ferrari ENZO.

Breakneck Speeds

While design is one of the considerations of many car enthusiasts, the primary characteristic that by-far differentiates a sports car from the rest is its acceleration and maintainable road speed. When it comes to sports cars, it's all a matter of speed, speed, and more speed. A pretty car won't cut it if it cannot deliver the exhilarating ride that is expected of every sports car.

Exotic cars are continually challenging the rate at which a car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. Designs are beginning to be shaped from the engineering needs of the car, in order to suitably deliver a new record speed. As of the moment, the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans continues to reign with 2.6 seconds. However, with the likes of the 2002 Ferrari ENZO being designed based on the specifications of making a fast car, expect faster sports cars in the near future.

One-in-a-Million

Indeed, exotic sports cars aren't the type that mass produced and you can't but then 'off-the-lot'. Part of its exotic appeal is the fact that you can only have a certain number of models made available for sale. The rarer and more difficult to acquire, the greater a car's exotic value.

It's in the Name

Most cars don't need visualization to be called exotic, they just are. These would include your cult sports car classics your Porsche, your Ferrari, your Lamborghini.

While an 'exotic sports car' may be subjectively defined over a huge stratum, it's safe to believe that these qualities are more or less held in commonality by any definition. At any rate, one look at a car may be enough to give you a clue.
